A master of many media, Louis Comfort Tiffany (18481933) was one of America’s most noted decorative artists at the turn of the century. Son of the founder of the silver and jewelry firm Tiffany and Company of New York, Louis Tiffany began his career as a painter but moved quickly to interior decoration and other decorative media. In addition to leaded glass windows and lighting fixtures, Tiffany Studios produced exceptional works in wood, bronze, and enamel, as well as jewelry, blown glass, pottery, furniture, and textiles. The design of this ring is based on sketches by Meta K. Overbeck, one of Tiffany’s principal designers. Produced in cooperation with the Charles Hosmer Morse Museum of American Art, Winter Park, Florida. 14 kt. gold with 24 kt. gold plate and cultured freshwater pearls. Width 1/2 in.
