A master of many media, Louis Comfort Tiffany (18481933) was one of America’s most noted decorative artists at the turn of the century. Son of the founder of the silver and jewelry firm Tiffany and Company of New York, Louis Tiffany began his career as a painter but moved quickly to interior decoration and other decorative media. In addition to leaded glass windows and lighting fixtures, Tiffany Studios produced exceptional works in wood, bronze, and enamel, as well as jewelry, blown glass, pottery, furniture, and textiles. This necklace is based on a collection of jewelry sketches by Meta K. Overbeck, one of Tiffany’s principal designers. 24 kt. gold-plated sterling silver, with cultured freshwater pearls, carnelian, and mother-of-pearl. Length adjustable from 17 1/2 in. to 19 1/2 in.; with extender chain.
