Description
Our Silk Road Necklace features a motif based on the decorative collar of a covered jar (Chinese, ca. 5th century) found at Boma in Ili, Xinjiang. The collar was made in gold and garlanded around its shoulders with a decoration of inlaid rubies; fine gold wire formed in round and almond-shapes created the bezel settings for the stones. The jar and other objects found at Boma are thought to have belonged to high-ranking members of a nomadic tribe. 24 kt. gold-plated sterling silver, with hand-cut garnets. Hand made. Length adjustable to 17 in.
