Description
Peter Carl Faberge (Russian, 18461920) revolutionized the way jewelry was evaluated in Russian society by emphasizing creativity and workmanship over the use of precious stones and metals. His studio produced a wide variety of objets d’art, including magnificent jewelry, clocks, enamel cigarette cases, boxes, frames, and his ultimate achievement, a series of jeweled Easter eggs created for Czars Alexander III and Nicholas of Russia. Our Russian Imperial Trellis Necklace is adapted from a trellis motif adorning Faberges richly-jeweled Imperial Renaissance Egg, a gift from Czar Alexander III to his wife, Maria Feodorovna, in 1894. Made expressly for the Metropolitan Museum in the United States.
24 kt. gold plate, with crystals and hand-applied enamel. Length adjustable from 17 in. to 19 in.; with removable links.
