Egyptian Shell Necklace

Description

The design of this necklace is adapted from an ancient Egyptian girdle of gold cowrie shells and lapis lazuli beads (about 19621650 B.C.) discovered in 1934 at the site of Lisht, about 30 miles south of present-day Cairo. Sterling silver with 24 kt. gold plate and lapis. Handmade. Length adjustable from 21 1/2 in. to 23 1/2 in.; with extender chain.
