Collective Invention by Rene Magritte (original is oil on canvas 73x166cm)
This work of a woman transforming into a fish was finished in 1935 and exhibited in July 1935. Magritte describes this work as follows: Collective Invention is the answer to the problem of the sea. On the beach I laid a siren, the top part of whose body is that of a fish, while the bottom part consists of the belly and legs of a woman.
Part of the Parastone Museum Collection of statues adapted from famous paintings. Hand-painted resin statue. Measures 1.5″H x 6″L. Comes with color description card.
