Description
The Art Deco style is named after the Exposition Internationale des Décoratifs et Industriels Modernes of 1925. Its popularity extended through the 1930s from Europe to the United States, and was applied by artists and architects to a wide variety of media. The aesthetic focused on simple forms, often geometric or stylized from nature, smooth lines, and bold colors. Art Deco jewelry favored geometrical compositions with little surface decoration and strong color contrasts integrating large gemstones. An interest in the workings of machinery is often evident in the cool, clean contours of the silver and gold jewelry. Our Art Deco Earrings are based on the style of an original jewelry design from the early 20th century. Produced in cooperation with the Musée des Arts Décoratifs, Paris.
