The 16th through 18th centuries in India is known as the Mughal period. The Mughals, who were of Persian descent, populated north central India. During this period, a new artistic style formed that predominated art in north central region for 300 years. This resulted in highly decorative and elaborate patterns that were more Islamic than traditional Indian.
These earrings were inspired by enameled earrings set with emeralds, rubies and diamonds.
Enameled 24 karat gold-plate over pewter, enhanced by rhinestones. Sterling silver posts.
