Description
The Asiatic people called the Hyksos ruled Egypt in Dynasty 15, about 16401540 B.C. Their culture blended Egyptian and Middle Bronze Age Canaanite styles. The Museum has in its collection a group of jewelry that typifies this comingling of artistic styles. The elegant pieces, which may have belonged to a Hyksos princess, display both Near Eastern and indigenous Egyptian characteristics. Our earrings are based on a gold and sard-drop Egyptian-style necklace.
24 kt. gold-plated beads and dark carnelian. Length 1 1/2 in. Pierced, with 14 kt. gold ear wires.
